Seasight Davits Training Academy

Seasight Davits offers comprehensive training options for safe and effective operation of our davit systems. Our experienced instructors provide training at our dedicated facilities in Denmark and the UK,
where we have specialized facilities with training cranes installed so we can conduct our training courses there.

If an onshore training crane is available on site, Level 1 – Crane Operator & Level 2 – Crane Operator Instructor training courses can be conducted locally.

Overview of training levels

Level 1 – Crane Operator
Objective: The attendee can operate the crane hoisting cargo in a safe way.

Level 2 – Crane Instructor
Objective: The attendee can operate the crane hoisting cargo in a safe way. Additionally, they can instruct and endorse Level 1 trainees.

Level 3 – Service and Repair
Objective: The attendee can operate the crane hoisting cargo in a safe way. Additionally, they can conduct annual and 5-year service and basic trouble shooting.

Level 4 + 5 + 6 – Seasight Davits Technicians
Exclusive for  Seasight Davits’ Technicians: Level 4, 5 and 6 are exclusive for Seasight Davits’ technicians and promises quality service with warranty.

Level 2 – Instructor

  • The course is conducted in English
  • Consists of a theoretical and practical part
  • The full course is in-person
  • The course is aimed at people within the offshore wind industry. The participants do not need to be experienced crane operators or crane technicians
  • The course can be conducted in Seasight Davits training facilities or at the customer site provided a training crane is available (Not offshore)
  • The participant will be registered in ReadUnit with a unique Seasight Davits ID number
  • The participant will receive an ID card and a certificate
  • Duration is 1 day
  • Training material is site specific
  • The certificate is valid for 3 years from the issuing date. Refresh course isn’t offered.
  • The participant must pass a multiple-choice test at the end of the training. Passing criteria is 80% correct answers.

Level 3 – Service and Repair

  • Level 1 material (Operator)
  • Service checklist
  • Introduced to electrical components
  • Adjusting rotary limit switch
  • Tipping the crane (only TITAN)
  • Teaching encoder (only HERCULES)
  • Setting up dead zones (only HERCULES)
  • Calibrating load cell
  • Testing HOPS, AOPS, MOPS and ELL
  • Adjusting safety brake
  • Dynamic load testing
  • Basic trouble shooting
  • Optional: Changing wire rope
  • Maximum of 6 participants
  • The course is conducted in English
  • Consists of a theoretical and practical part
  • The full course is in-person
  • The course is aimed at technicians having a technical background as electricians, mechanics or similar
  • The course can be conducted in Seasight Davits training facilities
  • The course is not offered to third parties
  • The participant will be registered in ReadUnit with a unique Seasight Davits ID number
  • The participant will receive an ID card and a certificate
  • The participant is hereafter authorized conducting service, repair and basic trouble shooting. (Service required for maintaining warranty is only to be performed by Seasight Davits technicians)
  • Duration is 2 days
  • Training material is site specific
  • The certificate is valid for 3 years from the issuing date
  • The certificate can be refreshed by participating in a 1-day refresh course. The refresh course must be passed before expiry date of the certificate.
  • The participant must pass a multiple-choice test at the end of the training. Passing criteria is 80% correct answers.

  • The certificate can be refreshed by participating in a 1-day refresh course. The refresh course must be passed before expiry date of the certificate
