Seasight Davits celebrates davit crane no. 2000

Wednesday the 8. February, Seasight Davits completes the production of the davit crane no. 2000.

In many ways, this symbolizes the growth the Danish company has had since it was established in 2011, but especially in the last 5 years, where Seasight Davits has become a leading supplier of davit cranes for the offshore wind industry.

Crane no. 2000 is for an offshore wind farm of the US East Coast. Jimmy Staal Damsgaard, CEO at Seasight Davits elaborates:

“It is a special project for Seasight Davits. Not only because of our crane no. 2000, but because winning this, and three other projects, led way to the establishment of our third subsidiary, Seasight Davits US.”

Seasight Davits US was established in January 2022, and the company in Denmark has begun preparing for having their Regional Direct of the US stationed in New York state from August 2023, where one of the first assignments is to employ local technicians.

But it is not only in the US Seasight Davits has won market share. The 2000 completed davit cranes constitute 25% of the total offshore wind market, including the projects constructed before 2011. And it seems the company’s sales efforts and expansion with subsidiaries and partnerships is paying off.

Damsgaard continues:

“It took us about 10 years to sell the first 1000 davit cranes. And last year alone, we sold about 1000 cranes, which represent almost 70% of the market in 2022. This is a result we are vey proud of, especially as it generates work for our crane production in 2023, and for our service technicians in the coming years.”
